Young people at St Philip’s are assured of their entitlements to a Broad General Education in S1-S3, a Senior Phase within which they can obtain a range of National Qualifications, access to Skills for Learning, Life and Work, and support to move on to Positive and Sustained Destinations.

Emphasis is also placed on the concept of Wider Achievement, including ASDAN and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, as well as numerous other possibilities for training in, Pool-Lifeguard, First Aid, Manual Handling, Rural Skills, Youth Achievement Awards, Transitions in Action, Sports Leadership and many others.

We place huge emphasis on Employability, which has led to the development of different aspects of Vocational Education including, Motor Vehicle Maintenance, Construction, Skills for Work, Joinery and Land/Environment.

Wider Achievement is also part of our culture with a clear focus on certificates and awards.

Young people also have access to a variety of work experience placements. We have an ongoing partnership arrangement with Glasgow Youth Gateway and other similar developments are planned.

Excellent links also exist with Skills Development Scotland and well-developed relationships with a number of colleges afford young people their entitlement to further education, as a positive and sustained destination.
